This allows for a weight savings of 173g per 64 spokes compared to spokes with a constant 2.34mm diameter. Despite the light center piece, the DT Alpine III is very durable and perfectly suited for the big loads occurring in high-performance e-bike or tandem wheels.

The features of the DT Alpine III include a single J-bend spoke nipple not included, triple-butted construction (2.34/1.8/2.0), and a requirement for a hub with a 2.5mm or larger spoke hole. One 264mm spoke weighs 6.5g, and the nipples are sold separately.
